Dispensing with Euro cartridges in industrial applications

The cartridge system from Walther Systemtechnik professionalises the use of Euro cartridges in automated dispensing and production processes.
With the WKSK cartridge system, Walther Systemtechnik introduces a discharge system specifically developed for industrial applications using Euro cartridges. The compact and high-performance system enables the automated and reliable supply of adhesives, silicones and other high-quality media that are typically filled in Euro cartridges.
Euro cartridges offer numerous advantages as a media storage solution. They ensure safe transport and storage, enable clean handling with maximum media purity and can be disposed of easily after use. Particularly advantageous is the defined, comparatively small filling volume: in applications with low media consumption, this reduces the risk of exceeding maximum processing times and thus lowers material losses and production costs.
In industrial practice, however, the use of cartridges has so far often been limited to manual workstations or associated with production interruptions during cartridge changeover. In addition, suitable solutions for process-reliable integration into automated systems were lacking.
The WKSK cartridge system overcomes these limitations and opens up new possibilities for the use of Euro cartridges in automated production environments.
Equipped with an integrated pressure regulator and pressure gauge, as well as optional pre-empty and empty signals, the system operates autonomously and ensures a uniform media discharge without pressure fluctuations. The closed pressure system pushes the sealing plug of the cartridge in a controlled manner towards the outlet when media is requested. This reliably prevents the cartridge from bulging or deforming and also allows overhead installation.
Cartridge replacement is quick and safe: open the cartridge tube, remove the empty cartridge, insert a new cartridge, close – operation can be resumed immediately. An integrated non-return valve enables cartridge replacement even when supply pressure is present. At the same time, the optimised device design and integrated safety functions reliably prevent air from entering the fluid system.
The WKSK cartridge system is cascade-capable. Multiple WKSK units can be connected in series to empty several Euro cartridges sequentially. While one cartridge is being emptied, the downstream unit automatically takes over the media supply. In this way, continuous and process-reliable media provision is ensured despite the use of standard commercial cartridges.
Through this series cascading, the WKSK bridges the gap between systems for larger containers and applications using individual cartridges and is particularly suitable for automated dispensing processes with a constant demand for media.
In addition, the WKSK cartridge system is fully compatible with all Walther MODULAR components and offers a wide range of options for configuring and expanding customised dispensing systems. In combination with the Walther Booster Pump Module, for example, pressure-independent conveying of up to 150 bar can be realised – even over longer conveying distances.
Additional flexibility is provided by the interchangeable cartridge holder with different connection threads for plastic and aluminium cartridges. This extends the range of applications and allows easy adaptation to different media and cartridge types.
